Milkyway and Malteaser Double Chocolate Brownies

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all doing well?

Below is a recipe for Malteaser and Milkyway Double Chocolate Brownies, the recipe has been adapted and the original recipe can be found here I always use this recipe as a base for my brownies and then add in whatever I desire, and this time it was Milkyway chocolate bars and Malteasers!

***Please note, the below recipe is the scaled down (Original) version. To make my brownies, I used a large deep set rectangle baking tray - The recipe below therefore does not produce large chunky brownies. I double the recipe to get the desired thickness for the brownies - In red are the weights for the doubled up versions***

There not burnt! It's just the filter I used! Should of used a different one I suppose ;)

Makes 20
(Or more depending on how big you want the squares)

Ingredients:

185g  Butter - 370g Butter
185g Dark Chocolate - 370g Dark Chocolate
85g Plain Flour  - 170g Plain Flour
40g Cocoa Powder - 80g Cocoa Powder
50g - Milk Chocolate - 100g Milk Chocolate
50g - White Chocolate - 100g White Chocolate
3 Large Eggs - 6 Large Eggs
275g Caster Sugar - 550g Caster Sugar

You will also need:

Spoon or Spatula

x 2 large bowls or any mixing bowls
A couple of big and little spoons
A large rectangle baking tray
Greaseproof paper

Let's begin shall we?

Step 1: Boil the kettle then place the hot water into a pan, that's on a low heat on the stove to create a bain marie. Break up 185g of dark chocolate into chunks and place into a heat proof bowl, add in the butter as well and give it a little bit of a stir. Then place the bowl onto the pan with the water in, be careful! Don't burn yourself and watch out for any water spitting out at you - try not to get any water into the chocolate. Occasionally stir the chocolate so it doesn't stick to the bottom on the bowl, once the chocolate and the butter is all incorporated, with some oven gloves or a tea towel, carefully take the bowl off the heat and place to one side to cool down for a while. - You can also do this in a microwave if you have one available :)

Step 2: In one bowl, sieve together the flour and cocoa powder until it's all Incorporated together in the bowl. Then place to one side whilst you sort out the other ingredients.

Step 3. crack all the eggs into a jug or container and give it a whisk until it is all mixed in, then add the sugar into your other bowl, once you have done this add in the eggs.  You need to keep whisking the eggs until the mixture creams together, goes a paler colour and gets thicker.

Keep whisking for a bout 5-7 minutes, you will know it's done by lifting your whisk or fork out of the mix and when it leaves a trail over the surface it should stay for a second. If it doesn't whisk a little more.

See the trail from the fork? That's what you're looking for.

Step 4: Add in the cooled melted chocolate, it may still be a bit warm but that's okay! So long as it's not hot chocolate, otherwise it will turn to very sugary scrambled egg, so make sure you leave it to cool.  Very slowly mix the chocolate into the egg and sugar mix, you don't want to mess up all the work you put into mixing in the previous stage. Keep mixing until it is all combined and looks like the below picture.

Step 5: Slowly sieve in the chocolate powder and the flour, once it's all into the bowl;. Mix with the method of plunging your spoon / spatula into the back of the mix and then drag the spoon towards yourself, the mix will slowly start to fold in on itself.

It will start to go to a fudge like consistency like the below picture.

Step 6:  Grease the tin with butter, sprinkle with flour then line with Grease proof paper, leaving some paper hanging over the edges so it's easier to take out of the pan once baked.

7. Pour half the mixture into the tray and smooth out, then cutting chunks of chocolate up scatter the Milkyway and the Malteasers onto the mixture.

Then our the rest of the mix on top, and then the rest of the chocolate bar and Malteasers!

8. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes in the middle of the oven, when the timers up check the brownies, if they are wobbling too much, place back in the oven for 10 minutes.

When you check, you're looking for a slight wobble, when you get this take it out of the oven and place on the side still in the pan and leave to completely cool.

Once cool, cut how you desire!
And enjoy!

Much love,

21st Cupcake Fit For a King!

Hey everyone!

How are we all doing?

I understand that I have been a bit quiet recently and yes I do need to post more and I also know that some of the post that will be new today, are actually in fact old - as far as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter go. But if you head on over to Sprinkle, Sparkle and Magic Life there is an update on why I've been so quiet recently.

But for now, lets take a look at this GIANT cupcake! I do love making them, they're just so fun and wonderful to create!!

I apologise for the photo's I understand that they aren't very good, but believe it or not, this is from my phone and the phone has a better camera than my actual camera...if that just made any sense?

The above photo is a little 'plaque' that was made, small dint's we're placed around the side to make it have a different effect and look, I was going for a gold coin look. It then was sprayed with silver Shimmer spray and then I carefully painted on the lettering and number :) With vodka and gel colours.

Close up of that smooth, velvety buttercream!

The cake was Victoria sponge with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream in the centre, vanilla buttercream was also swirled on top too!

Crispy M&M's we're added inside the cake as a surprise and then topped around the cake to give off the effect of sprinkles! The base of the cake was solid blue candy melts with added white chocolate. With the cake placed inside it!

The lettering that you can see on the above photo and the one all the way at the top was a lovely mint green coloured sugarpaste and was made using Windsor's Clikstix's. Which took me some time to get used to at first, but I have sussed out the magic trick now!

I also made a mini Desperado's beer bottle as asked by the customer. Had carved, then sprayed with gold and silver shimmer spray. and hand painted label! I am so proud and happy on how it turned out. I haven't got a clearer picture I am afraid but will try and find one!

All in all, what can I say? I just LOVE making the giant cupcakes, they are so fun to create and you can go all out on them! Even though they are still the range in some aspects, they never seem to bore me or fail to make me amazed!

Speak to you all soon, more blog posts to come!!

Three Tiered Chocolate Monster Cake (Katherine Sabbath Inspired)

Hey everyone!

Would you just look at that Monster?!

I had such a blast making this cake! It is inspired by the wonderful and talented Katherine Sabbath and her own cakes, which are just out of this wold! Take a look below!

ALL CORYRIGHT FOR THE ABOVE PICTURE IS KATHERINE SABBATH, I DO NOT OWN THIS PICTURE OR THE CAKE DESIGN.

Isn't it just beautiful? Look at all those colours, though this is a cheesecake not a cake, but its still brilliantly impressive! I cannot find her online through a website to link to or on Facebook, but she is on Instagram so go search for @Katherine_Sabbath and give her a follow!

So this was my cake, and the first of taking on the inspiration for doing a Kat inspired cake! I loved designing and making this cake, it was such fun and was completed in 48 hours which I was very surprised with if I'm honest!

The cake itself is a three tiered sponge cake, with two layers of chocolate and one layer of coffee cake which is in the middle of the two chocolates. The sponge was then all sandwiched together using coffee buttercream and then crumb coated in the same buttercream.

The cake was then covered in Coffee buttercream, and chocolate bark shards we're placed on top as well as white and blue meringue kisses, chunks of golden crunchie bar was also sprinkled over the top of the cake. A full on chocolate and coffee overload!

Here's a close up of the Chocolate Bark before it went onto the cake! White, milk and dark chocolate with crushed crunchie pieces and crushed meringue kisses sprinkled on top! Such a golden effect! It reminded me a bit of gold nuggets hehe

Side view of the cake, with the meringue kisses, chocolate crunchy and the chocolate shards!

And there we have it! That's the big monster of a chocolate cake haha
Think this photo is my favourite out of all of them. Big thanks to my younger brother for taking some fab pics of the cake!

Much love and baking wishes!

Easter Specials!

Hey everyone!

How are we all?

I know the title may put you off a little, Easter posts, on the 10th? I know I know, it's my fault and I need to update more often, I'm not doing bad though!

I've been a bit busy, what with making a dozen 80th Cupcakes then an 80th Birthday cake and testing some new cupcake recipes out, it's all been a bit hectic. So I'm trying to post ASAP. But! You will be happy to know that after this post we will be (soon) up to date, we are more up to date now with the posts than we we're a bit ago, let's just say that!

Eee! Just look at those cute little pink and green Easter Eggs inside those cookies!

These are "slice" sugar cookies, there is a word for it but I can't remember it! Basically, it's a Vanilla Sugar cookie recipe, and then halved into colours of your choice and the design you wish to use. The recipe is  by a wonderful woman called Ruth Clemens A.K.A The Pink Whisk, go check out the recipe here ---> The Pink Whisk - Sugar Cookies

Such a great recipe, Ruth truly does have some great recipes and I have used quite a few of hers in the past, go and take a look! She's a bloody star!

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while but didn't really know how too, so I thought I would give it a search and found so many things to do with it on Instagram, such a wonderful place for any kind  of inspiration!

So I found this incredible woman who makes cookies that just blew me away! I first saw Eugenie Kitchen on Youtube whilst scrolling through different youtubers pages and I was just fascinated by what she has baked! There are tutorials as well which she has kindly filmed and they helped me to create these wonderful Easter Egg themed sugar cookies.

Valentine's Day Rainbow Heart Cookies - Eugenie Kitchen
Copyright of Eugenie Kitchen

It is based on the Heart cookies above, but I decided to do mine a little different and go for an Easter Egg seeing as it was Easter! I sadly forgot to get the sprinkles though, I will have to remember them next time!

So here is what the dough looked like before the finished cookies (Top pic!) I Just love the way they look, cute isn't even close! So there you have it, Vanilla sugar cookies with a lovely Easter twist pattern inside. Big thanks to the super ladies and their blogs, make sure you go and check them out!!

We also made a big batch of triple chocolate brownies! Which was white, dark and milk chocolate, then filled with milk chocolate chunks! As requested by Mr. B! Do love making brownies, do you like making brownies? Have any new recipes you wish to share? Let me know and I'll give them a go!

Much love, hope you all had a lovely Easter! (Bit late I know! Haha)

Ooh! Check that out! Brand new signature, we're moving up ladies and gentlemen!

Paris Themed Birthday Cake

Evening everyone!

How are we all doing?

I've just finished going through all the posts, seeing as half of them had photo's missing! Can you believe it, no? Me neither!

Anyway, I don't have many more updates to give you all, well, I do but I will do them all in a batch post. You will all soon see!  For now I will grant you the access to view some of the last cakes that I have recently done, there are three but will all be posted in separate posts (They need their glory! Haha)

And here we have it! The two tiered, Paris themed birthday cake. I really did enjoy making this cake so much and for once I wasn't really stressful, Hoozah! It was great and so fun!

Now to the specifics: The bottom layer was a Funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream and raspberry jam sandwiched together, the top tier is chocolate cake sandwiched together with chocolate buttercream.

The bottom layer was then covered in white sugar paste and the top in mint green. Emerald stripes of sugarpaste we're placed around the bottom tier, whilst emerald polka dots we're placed around the top tier.

Using modelling paste, I created one large pink rose to sit on top, and four little white roses to be placed on top of the bottom tier. I made silhouettes out of black sugarpaste and placed them inbetween the emerald stripes. Making the black stand out more on the white background.

Last but not least, there's an Eiffel Tower stuck on top, constructed out of Rice cripsies and covered with many layers of white chocolate and then green. We then placed black and white ribbon around the base of each cake to make it look even more pretty, and pinned them in with a pearl coloured bobby bin (Don't worry, it was brand new, not used for anything else and sterilized first)

I really enjoyed making this cake, especially the silhouettes, I just love them!  I really liked how it looked and everything. It was a surprise for the customer as her partner had bought her tickets to go away to Paris for the weekend and surprised her with her birthday cake! How wicked is that! Very happy to be a part of it.

Much love,

❤ Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!
How're you lovely lot doing today? I hope you're all doing well?

We're not doing much over here at Sprinkle, Sparkle and Magic, Sam and I have decided to get each other cards and that's about it haha, but we're happy doing our own thing. Him on guitar and me updating all the lovely sites, I'm going one day at a time, that's

how I've decided to tackle it!

Here are the little Valentine's Day treats that we're made :) Chocolate shortbread cookies sandwiched together with Banana milkshake flavoured buttercream, then rolled in pink love heart sugar sweets. So Cute and yummy! They're based around the chocolate foam banana sweets!

We also made this loaf of Poppy-seed bread, I decided to score it this time and I'm so that that I did and I feel it looks so much better! Tasted lovely toasted with a lovely slab of butter melting away on top! Yummy! :P

Sadly, I forgot to take a pic of the bread after I took it out of the pan (and before Sam got his hands on it!) But I'm very happy with it.

Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day and if not, just remember we're always here for you too take a peek into our world and we will always be here, waiting with open arms haha. I will do some more updates later on today of older posts!

Small single baking updates

The above picture is a quick Cherry and Coconut loaf cake that I made for my granddad, I make him a cake nearly every fortnight, or I'm trying to when I can :) One of his favourites, as well as fruit loaf cake.

Here is my first ever loaf of bread that I made, it's safe to say that I have come a long way since then (Last year) in baking bread, thanks to the great The Pink Whisk where I found the most perfect recipe for a white loaf, which I also use to make brown as well. Sam's in love with this bread, so thank you ever so much for sharing your recipe! :D You're a life saver Ruth and I am ever so grateful and happy I found your recipe! xx

For the white loaf recipe, please click here ---> White Loaf Recipe

Some double chocolate chip cookies that we're made a while back :)

KitKat and M&M's Chocolate cake

Hi all,

You may feel like I start to spam you in a moment, and well...That's because I am! And I plan too! This is because, as I have stated in my last post, that once I make a cake or I bake anything I end up posting it on Facebook. Quite frequently actually because I have a lovely little page there, which you can all access if you wish to have a nosey at it.

But back to the subject, yeah...I post everything on Facebook so I'm trying to update this wonderful blog, spruce it up a bit, fill it with posts and make it look more homey. A bit more homey like my book review page. ( Which is you're ever interested in having a look then please go to: Tinks Books and Reviews

Anyway! Back to what I was saying. The above cake was just a little something I made with the things we had in the house at the time. I did see this design on facebook in honesty over just a page that I had liked and really wanted to make it!

It's a normal homemade chocolate cake with homemade chocolate frosting in the middle and around the cake. I then snapped some kit-kat's up and placed them around the cake, and then covered the top in plain chocolate M&M's. Very chocolaty I must say!

I enjoyed making this cake and I loved the colour of what the M&M's made the cake look like as it make it look more cheerful and fun! Though it was a little messy to eat as all the M&M's kept falling off! Haha, but it was fun non the less!

I must say, thank you for people looking at my page recently! I've seen a big jump in the sights over the page and I am over the moon! Thank you ever so much! :D Please feel free to comment on any of the cakes, about what you like about them and what you don't like about them and if I can improve on anything. I would like to hear your comments about them, good and bad!

Much love,

Apply Mac Cake

Hi there guys,

Sorry it's been a while, I meant to update sooner but totally forgot. You see I've recently got a job which is everyday apart from the weekend, so I will have to find more time to post, but I'm still doing the cakes and decorating. It's just a bit silent at the moment in my world of cakes, but hope everyone is good.

I made this cake on the 22/03/13 and decorated it the next day in time for my dad's birthday. He loves all things apple mac, and I thought it would be a great idea and a surprise! And lo and behold he loved it! He's now told everyone at work, which now means I have to make one for next Monday haha.

I know the apple logo is actually silver or white but I thought it would be a good idea and a change to make it green. On the picture it does look sparkly and that is because I sprayed it with a silver edible spray and quite liked the outcome of it.

It's a homemade chocolate cake with homemade chocolate fondant in the middle and around the top as well so the fondant icing would stick. I got Sainsbury's brand fondant icing. As I feel it's better and I can also work with it better as it's not too tough and I can roll it out easier. I then dyed the icing with Silver Spoon colour creator green. This is an amazing product and so glad that I had found it.

(Granted the cake does look messy, but I'd only just cut it!)

The colours are bright and there's loads to use. It lasts for ages! I would definitely recommend them. I did the outline by printing off an apple mac logo off the Internet and lightly placed it over the cake, then cut out the shape carefully with a sharp knife. Then did the same on the top. The cake was made out of a 12" base, but only because of the size of the cake needed to be bigger than a normal round 6" tin.

Added the fondant, sprayed with silver and hey presto!
Hope you liked looking at it haha, it sure tasted nice!

HH Amplifier Cake

Hey,

So I did this cake a while ago now and it was my first attempt at a cake like this. Well, when I mean like this I mean in that design and as in actually going that far in decorating. Rather than just throwing on a bit of icing and words as usual. And I am happy to say and quite proud, that I think it came out and looks wonderful!

The cake is supposed to be in the design of a HH Musicians Amplifier, which my other half of me always plays. Along with his guitars, he's a little obsessed ;)
Had to copy it from the actual amp and photo's of it. Was all sketched out by hand first, then we worked around the edits of the photo's and drawings.
(Below is what it is based on)

But he loved it ever so much and so did his family, took a while to make, though I had an extra hand, seeing it was his cake and he wanted to help me out (Probably just in case I didn't spell something right haha!) No, he helped and we had a blast, was so happy! Didn't want anyone to eat it.

The cake was a double  layer one, with Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge frosting in the middle, the top part where the mesh section would be where the speakers are, is done also with Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Frosting. The lettering done by writing icing, and knobs are done with Fondant icing, then sprayed edible silver.

Took a more than a few hours to make and decorate all together but it was worth it. Really enjoyed both the baking side and the decorating side and hope to do that design again soon. If you ever do wish for an HH cake or any other type of amplifier cake such as Marshall etc. Just let me know and will be happy to do it :)

(PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAKE HAS BEEN DESIGNED BY HAND, AND MOST CAKES WILL BE. UNLESS I HAVE AN ACTUAL DESIGN AT HAND. OTHERWISE ALL WILL BE DRAWN FREE HAND. THANK YOU!)

Made: 24th - 25th November 2012
